After a 12-year of gap, Shaji Kailas and Mohanlal have collaborated for the thriller drama Alone. Alone is a pandemic movie that discusses the struggles of a man stranded in quarantine. The movie is scripted by Rajesh Jayaraman and produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. 4 Musics composed the music, and Don Max has done the editing.

Alone comes with the title "real heroes are always alone" and has only Mohanlal as the main character. The rest of the character's presence is as voice actors. The film was developed during the COVID-19 pandemic in India as a small film that can be made within pandemic restrictions to help unemployed workers in the Malayalam film industry.
