Mohanlal's first-ever directorial venture, "Barroz," is set to hit screens on March 28, 2024. The actor-turned-director announced the release date along with a sneak peek at the film's updated poster. The movie narrates the tale of a 400-year-old spirit with a mission to protect D'Gama's treasure and entrusted with the task of passing it on only to a true descendant of Da Gama. Presented by Aashirvad Cinemas, the movie stars Mohanlal in the lead, supported by Maya, Cesar Lorente Raton, Kallirroi Tziafeta, Tuhin Menon, and Guru Somasundaram in crucial roles. The music was created by Mark Kilian and Lydian Nadhaswaram. Santosh Sivan manages the cinematography for the 3D fantasy drama, with T. K. Rajeev Kumar as the creative head. Barroz's technical team features editor B. Ajith Kumar and art by Santhosh Raman.
